A sulphate salt of group 2 element of the periodic table is a white, soft substance, which can be used in false ceiling. When it is left open it becomes a hard, solid mass.
(a) Why does it show such behaviour?
(b) Identify the sulphate salt and give another use of it.
(c) Give reasons foe the preparation of the same.

Answer:a it is deliquescent which means that it absorbs and doesnot form a solution but a solutewhich is hard.

b This is sodium sulphate

which is used in some chemical reactions like making liquid soap
