A sum of 3000rs is to be given in the form of 63prizes if the prize money is either 100rs or 25rs find the each type of prizes

Let the prizes of 100 rs and 25 rs be x andy.


Given, x + y = 63 -------------------- (1)
      
          100x+25y = 3000 i.e 4x+y =120       --------------- (2)


On solving (1) and (2) we get

= 4x+y-x- y = 120 - 63

3x = 57

x = 19              ----------------------------(3)


Substitute (3) value in equation (2), we get

y = 120 - 76

   = 44


The number of prizes each of cost 100 = 19.

The number of prizes each of cost 25 = 44.
