let no. of notes of rs.10 be x
total value of rs.10 notes = 10x
let the no. of notes of rs. 20 be y
total value of rs.20 notes = 20y

Total no. of notes = 35
x+y=35
y= 35 - x

ACCORDING TO THE QUESTION,
20y+10x=500
10 (2y+x) = 500
10 {2 (35-x) + x} = 500
10 (70-2x+x)= 500
700 -20x +10x = 500
-10x = -200
x = 20

No. of ten rupees notes = x
=20 (ANS)
No. of 20 rupees notes = 35-x
= 35-20 = 15 (ANS)
