Let no. of notes of 5rs be x

no. of notes of 10rs be y

By first condition,

5x + 10y = 500 _ eq. 1

By second condition,

x + y = 90

Multiply both sides by 5,

5x + 5y = 450 _ eq. 2

Subtracting eq. 2 from eq. 1,

We get

5y = 50

Hence, y = 10

Resubstituting in second condition,

x + y = 90

x + 10 = 90

x = 90 - 10

Hence, x = 80

Therefore, no. of 5rs notes are 80 and 10rs notes are 10.
