Let the total no of 5 Rs notes be x and 10 Rs notes be y

x+y = 90......(1)

5x+10y = 500.....(2)

Multiplying eq (1) by 10

10x+10y = 900......(3)

Subtracting eq (2) from eq (3)

After calculation,

5x = 400

x = 80

Substituting x = 80 in eq (1)

x+y = 90

80+y = 90

y = 10

Therefore, No of 5 Rs notes is 80 and no of 10 Rs notes is 10

Step-by-step explanation:

Total sum = 500

Let number of 5 rupees note be x and that of 10 be y

Total notes = 90

value of 5 and 10 rupee note be 5x and 10y

According to the question

X+y=90

y=90-x.....1

And 5x+10y=500

x+2y=100.......2

Put 1 in 2

x+180-2x=100

-x=-80

x=80

Therefore if put in 1 y = 10

So we have 400 ruppes of 5 rupee note and 100 of 10 rupess note
