a/c to question,

sum of money invested at 15% simple interest p.a for 3 years yields the same interset as another sum invested at 12% simple interest p.a for 5 years.

Let sum of money invested at 15% is P1 and sum of money invested at 12% is P2.

using formula, S.I = P × r × t/100

⇒P1 × 15% × 3yrs/100 = P2 × 12% × 5 yrs/100

⇒45P1 = 60P2

⇒P1/P2 = 60/45 = 4/3

hence, ratio for the two sums invested is 4 : 3.

Step-by-step explanation:

sum of money invested at 15% simple interest p.a for 3 years yields the same interset as another sum invested at 12% simple interest p.a for 5 years.

Let sum of money invested at 15% is P1 and sum of money invested at 12% is P2.

using formula, S.I = P × r × t/100

⇒P1 × 15% × 3yrs/100 = P2 × 12% × 5 yrs/100

⇒45P1 = 60P2

⇒P1/P2 = 60/45 = 4/3

hence, ratio for the two sums invested is 4 : 3.
