Answer:

given,

C got the largest share amount

let,

the ratio 2:3:5 be 2x,3x,5x

then,

5x=C=$1400

5x=$1400

x=1400/5

x=$280

A=2x=2*280=$560

B=3x=3*280=$840

a) total sum of money to be shared

=A+B+C

=560+840+1400

=2800

b) A’s share = $560

c) The percentage of the total B receives

= 840/2800*100

=30%

Given: Ratio of money divided among A, B and C = 2:3:5

           Largest amount of money = $1400

To find: a) The total sum of money to be shared

             b) A's share

             c) The percentage of the total B receives

Solution: We can see from the given ratio that C has the largest share, which is $1400.

Let three shares be written as 2x, 3x and 5x.

Hence according to the question,

5x = 1400

⇒ x = 1400/5 = 280

a) The total amount of money to be shared = $(2x + 3x +5x)

                                                                        = $(10 × 280)

                                                                        = $ 2800

b) A's share = $ 2x

                    = $ (2 × 280)

                    = $ 560

c) B's share = $(3 × 280) = $840

The percentage of the total B receives =  (840/2800) × 100 percent

                                                                     = 840/28 percent

                                                                     = 30 percent
