That is the sum of money is split into 3 out of (3+5 =8 parts ) and 5 out of 8 parts

Let the sum of money be x

The bigger share will be $\frac{5}{8} x$

The smaller share will be $\frac{3}{8} x </p><p>The bigger share is 20 less than the smaller share</p><p>so we have</p><p>[tex] \frac{5}{8} x -20 = \frac{3}{8} x$

$\frac{5}{8} x - \frac{3}{8} x = 20$

$\frac{2}{8} x=20$

2x=20 X 8

2x=160

x=80

Hence the share would be

$\frac{5}{8} .80 = 50$

$\frac{3}{8} .80 = 30$

Hence the share would be Rs. 50 and Rs. 30
