If the sum triples in 5 years , it means simple interest in 5 years = double the sum

so interest each year is 40% of sum

So to become 6 times , interest has to be 5 times the sum

So 5/0.4 = 12.5 years ANSWER

Answer:

Rate is 40%

Step-by-step explanation:

Given, Time=5 yrs.

Let Principal be X

And Rate as R%

So 1st take out

Interest = R×T/100

= X×5/100

= (RX/20). [ As 5/100 when as a while cut by 5 so comes answer 1/20].

As we know according to the question the money amounts to 3 times of it's Principal. So Amount = 3X

Then Amount = Interest + Principal

3X = ( RX/20 + X )

3X = {(RX + 20X/20)}

3X × 20 = ( RX + 20X ).

60X = ( RX + 20X )

60X - 20X = RX

40X = RX

40X/X = R

40 = R

Here comes your answer

R = 40%
