A sum of Rs.3000 is to be given in the form of 63 prizes. if a prize is of either Rs.100 or of Rs.25, find the number of prizes of each type.

number of Rs. 100 prize = x

Number of Rs. 25 prize = y

x + y  = 63

x = 63 - y

Rs.100 = 100x

Rs.25 = 25x

100x + 25x = 3000

100(63-y) + 25y = 3000

6300 - 100y + 25y = 3000

75y = 6300 - 3000

y = 3300/75 = 44

Number Rs.100 prizes = 44

Number of Rs. 25 prizes = 63 - 44 = 19
