a sum of rs 500 is in the form of denominatin of rs 5 or rs 10. if the total number of notes 90. find the numbers of notes in each type

Let notes of Rs. 5 be a.

and notes of Rs. 10 be b.

and Total number of notes = 90

Therefore, a + b = 90 -------------------------- 1

and n(5) + n(10) = 500

Therefore 5a + 10b = 500 ------------------- 2

Divide Eq. 2 by 5

So, a + 2b = 100 -------------------------------- 3

So, From 1 and 3 we can conclude

a + 2b = 100

a + b = 90

--------------------

b = 10

Substitute value of b in Eq 1

So, a + 10 = 90

Therefore a = 80

So, Number of Notes of 10 = 10

and, Number of Notes of 5 = 80
