A sum of Rs 800 is in the form of denominations of Rs 10 and Rs 20. If the total number of notes be 50, find the number of notes of each type.​

Total Sum = Rs 800

Let number of notes of Rs 10 and Rs 20 be x and y respectively.

x + y = 50

x = 50 - y ——( 1 )

10x + 20y = 800

Putting value of x from ( 1 ),

10(50 - y) + 20y = 800

500 - 10y + 20y = 800

10y = 300

y = 30

x = 20

So, the denominations of Rs 10 and Rs 20 are 20 and 30 notes respectively.
