Solution :

Given -

Sum of 3:5 is 160000.

To find the smallest share :-

Let the Ratios be X.

Than ,

=> 3x + 5x = 160000

=> 8x = 160000

=> x = 160000/8

=> x = 20000

Now ,

=> 3x = 3 × 20000 = 60000

=> 5x = 5 × 20000 = 100000

Clearly , the LHS ( ratio ) that is 3x is smaller.

\underline{\huge\mathfrak{Question:}}

A sum of Rs. 1,60,000 is divided in the ratio , 3:5 , what is the smaller share ?

\underline{\huge\mathfrak{Answer:}}

Given , the amount of money = 1,60,000 Rs.

Ratio of the shares = 3 : 5

We know that , ratio is mainly , the comparison between integers . It makes us understand , how many times is it greater or smaller than the other number .

So , let us suppose that the shares of this amount of money are 3x\:and\:5x respectively .

Therefore ,

3x + 5x = 160000

 = > 8x = 160000

 = > x = \frac{160000}{8}

 = > x = 20000

Therefore , the shares would respectively be ,

3 \times 20000 = 60000

And ,

5 \times 20000 = 100000

Therefore , the amount of the smaller share = Rs. 60000 .
