A sum of rupee 2000 is in the form of denominations of rupee 50 and rupee 10 notes. If the total number of notes is 80. Find the number of notes of each type.

let X be the number of notes of Rs 50/- and Y be the number of notes of Rs 10/-
50X + 10Y = 2000
=> 5X +Y = 200
=>Y = 200 - 5X------------(1)
X + Y = 80
=>Y = 80 - X---------------(2)
comparing eqn (1) and (2)
80 -X = 200 - 5X
=>4X = 120
=>X = 30
from eqn (2)
Y = 80 - 30
=>Y = 50.
So number of notes of Rs 50 is 30 and number of notes of Rs 10 is 50.
