a sum of rupees 500 is in the form of 5 rupee and 10 rupee notes if the total number of notes is 75 then find the number of notes of each type

Let the notes of Rs 5 be x

and notes of Rs 10 be y

So by the condition given in your Question we get two equation

x+y=75. .... (1)

5x+10y=500. .... (2)

multiply equation (1) by 10 we get

10x+10y=750. ... (3)

by subtractingequation (2) from (3) we get

5x=250

x=50

y=25
