Assume: 5 rupees note = x
10 rupees note = y
5x + 10y = 500 (divide by 5 for both sides of equation)
x + 2y = 100 ...(1)
x + y = 90 ...(2)
From the (1) & (2) equation, we use elimination method:
x + 2y = 100
x + y = 90 -
----------------------
y = 10
x + y = 90
x + 10 = 90
x = 90 - 10
x = 80
The number of 5 rupee notes = 80
The number of 10 rupee notes = 10
10 rupees note = y
5x + 10y = 500 (divide by 5 for both sides of equation)
x + 2y = 100 ...(1)
x + y = 90 ...(2)
From the (1) & (2) equation, we use elimination method:
x + 2y = 100
x + y = 90 -
----------------------
y = 10
x + y = 90
x + 10 = 90
x = 90 - 10
x = 80
The number of 5 rupee notes = 80
The number of 10 rupee notes = 10
