Step-by-step explanation:

Water level is  40 inch below ground level or -40 inch with respect to ground level after 20 minutes if sump is full of water and level of water decreasing 2 inches per minute

Given:

A sump is full of water

Level of water decreasing 2 inches per minute by a Motor

To Find:

Level of water from the ground level after 20 minutes

Solution:

Sump is under ground to collect desirable/undesirable liquids

Top of sump is at ground level

Step 1:

Multiply 2 inch per minute with 20 minutes to find drop in water level in 20 minutes

Level Drop = 2 x 20 = 40 inches

Step 2:

As Sump is full of water hence initial level = ground level

Hence  level of water from the ground level after 20 minutes  is

40 inch below ground level

or -40 inch with respect to ground level.

The level of water from the ground level after 20 minutes 40 inch below ground level or -40 inch with respect to ground level.
