A supply of 12V DC is applied across a circuit which consists of three resistors connected in parallel R=1.25 ohms, R2=5.6 ohms, R3=2.1 ohms, and a fourth resistor of 7.8 ohms connected in series with the parallel group. Determine the current, voltage, and power across each resistor

Explanation:

R1= 1.25 ohm

R2= 5.6 ohm

R3= 2.1 ohm

R4= 7.8 ohm

1/r= (1/R1+1/R2+1/R3)

= (1/1.25+1/5.6+1/2.1)

= 0.8+ 0.17+ 0.47

= 1.44

r= 1/1.44= 0.69 ohm

total resistance R = 0.69+ 7.8= 8.49 ohm

voltage V= 12 volt

current I = V/R

= 12/8.49

= 1.41 amp

power P= I^2R

= (1.41)^2* 8.49

= 16.87 watt
