Given :

A supply of water lasts for 150 days if 7.5 liters leaks off every day .

A supply of water lasts for 100 days if 15 liters leaks off every day .

To Find :

The Total quantity of water in the supply

Solution :

Case I

A supply of water lasts for 150 days if 7.5 liters leaks off every day .

∵ In 1 day, water leaks off 7.5 liters

∴ In 150 days, water leaks off = 150 × 7.5 = 1125 liters

Case II

A supply of water lasts for 100 days if 15 liters leaks off every day .

∵ In 1 day, water leaks off 15 liters

∴ In 100 days, water leaks off = 100 × 15 = 1500 liters

Now,

Difference = 1500 liters - 1125 liters

                  = 375 liters

i.e 375 liters last for ( 150 days - 100 days )

Or, 375 liters last for 50 days

Or, 375 liters which was sufficient to last for 50 days

That will give ,

375 × 3 liters which was sufficient to last for 50 × 3 days = 1125 liters + 1500 liters loss

Or, = 1125 liters + 1500 liters

     =  2625 liters

Hence, Total quantity of water in the supply is 2625 liters  Answer

Answer:

2250

Step-by-step explanation:

(x+7.5)×150 = (x+15)×100

(x+7.5)×3 = (x+15)×2

3x + 22.5 = 2x +30

x= 7.5

put in in any equation

(x+15)×100

(7.5+15)×100

2250 liters
