A surey was conducted among 120 people. One -fourth of the people preferred tea to coffee and three -fourth of the people preferred coffee to tea. What was preferred more, tea or coffee?

Thus, (1/4)*120 = 120/4 => 30 people preferred tea over coffee.

Thus, (3/4)*120 = (120*3)/4 =>30*3 => 90 people preferred coffee over tea.

By this, we can say that coffee was preferred more.

ALTERNATE SOLUTION:

We know that 1/4 + 3/4 => 1 which is whole.

So, after we have found that 30 people prefer tea, we can simply subtract that from 120 to get the number of people who prefer coffee.

=> 120 - People who prefer tea = People who prefer coffee

=> 120 - 30 => 90 people
