Given:

A survey of 300 people found that 30 of  them play cricket.

To Find:

In a pie chart, what  would be the sector angle of this group?

Solution:

In a pie chart, the data is represented in a circular graphical form. The sector angle can be calculated in the following steps:-

Step 1. Calculate the fractional value of the given data-

Here, People playing cricket = 30/300 = 1/10

Step 2. Determine the circular measurement-

⇒ (1/10 x 360) = 36°

Hence, the sector angle of this group is 36°.

Given  : A survey of 300 people found that 30 of them play cricket.

To Find :  In a pie chart, what would be the sector angle of this group ?

(A) 20°

(B) 36°

(C) 30°

(D) 10°

Solution:

A pie chart (or a circle chart) is a circular statistical graphic, which is divided into slices to illustrate numerical proportion.

In a pie chart, the arc length of each slice (and consequently its central angle and area), is directly proportional to the quantity it represents.

In a pie chart, each sector represents a particular part of data

and  the magnitude of the sector is directly proportional to the magnitude of the specific part of the data

Complete pie chart is a circle hence 360° represent complete data

300 people =  360°

=> 1 people =  360°/300

=> 30 people =  30 x 360°/300   = 36°

36°  sector angle
