Given : A survey was taken at a hiah school and the results were put in a cindegraph. The students were asked to that their favourite colours. The measurement of each central angle is shown

To Find :

What is the probability of favourite colour being red

What is the probability of favourite colour being blue or green

What is the probability of favourite colour not being red or blue

What is the probability of favourite colour not being red

Solution:

360° angle shows complete data  ( 100 %)

                       central angle    Probability

GREEN             36°                  36/360  = 1/10  = 0.1

RED                  36°                  36/360  = 1/10  = 0.1

BLUE               72°                  72/360  =   1/5  = 0.2

YELLOW          72°                  72/360  =   1/5 = 0.2

ORANGE         144°                144/360  =  2/5  = 0.4

probability of favourite colour being red = 0.1

probability of favourite colour being blue or green = 0.2 + 0.1 = 0.3

probability of favourite colour not being red or blue  = 1 - (0.1 + 0.2) = 0.7

probability of favourite colour not being Orange or green  = 1 -(0.4 + 0.1)

= 0.5

probability of favourite colour being red or blue  = 0.1 + 0.2 = 0.3
