A surveyor wants to find out the distance of the foot of a tower from point A. He measures ∠A as
tan A = 1/2 .What is the distance of the foot of the tower from point A, if height of the tower is 30 m

as shown in the figure ?

Here,

p=30m

To find: base (BA)

tanA=1/2

p/b= 1/2

30m/AB= 1/2

30m×2= AB

AB= 60m

therefore the distance of the foot is 60m
