Given : A swimmer can swim 50.2 meters in a minute .

To find :

How far can he swim in :

  • 0.25 minutes
  • 1.25 minutes
  • 3.75 minutes
  • 10.25 minutes
  • Half an hour

Solution :

Since , He covers , 50.2 m in 60s

Therefore , he covered the distance in

  • 1s = 50.2 / 60

Now , convert all the given min in sec ,

⟳ 0.25 min → 0.25 × 60 → 15 s

⟳ 1.25 min → 1.25 × 60 → 75 s

⟳ 3.75 min → 3.75 × 60 → 225 s

⟳ 30 min → 30 × 60 → 1800 s

So he could cover the distance in ,

15 s → 50.2 / 60 × 15

12.55 m

75 s → 50.2 / 60 × 75

62.75 m

225 s → 50.2 / 60 × 225

188.25 m

1800 s → 50.2 / 60 × 1800

1506 m

Hence , he could swim

12.55 m , 62.75 m , 188.25 m , 1506 m respectively !!
