Given:

Distance between x and y = 8 Km

Time to cover x to y = 60 min

Speed of water = 2 Km/h

Time to reach new place(n)

To Find:

Distance from x to new place n

Solution:

For Finding the distance,

We have to find the speed of the swimmer,

By using the formula,

                               Speed = \frac{Distance}{Time}

After substituting the values,

                                Speed = \frac{8}{1}                    { Since, 60 min = 1 hour

So, the Speed of the swimmer is 8 Km/h.

The distance traveled by the swimmer in 3 hours which is the distance from y to a new place is,

But the speed will increase by 2 Km/h, then the speed will be 10 Km/h

So, by using the same formula,

                                       10 = \frac{Distance}{3}

                            Distance = 30~Km

Hence the distance between x to the new place will be,

          Distance~from~x~to~n = 8+30\\~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~= 38

The distance between x to the new place is 38 Km.
