Answer:

A = 2 days to fill 1 pool , 6 Days to fill 3 pools

B = 3 days to fill 1 pool , 6 days to fill 2 pools

6 days / 5 pools = 1.2 days to fill 1 pool

Let the volume of the swimming pool be v, and the time taken by pipe B alone to fill the tank be x,

then, the ability of pipe A to fill the tank in 1 hour equals V/16,

then, the ability of pipe B to fill the tank in 1 hour equals V/x

  V/16+V/x =V/(9 3/5)

V(1/16+1/x)=V[1/(48/5)]

  1/16 + 1/x = 5/48

   x+16/16x = 5/48

   (x+16)48  = (5)(16x)

   48x+768  = 80x

           768   = 80x-48x

            32x=768

                x= 24....2nd pipe takes 24 hours(1 full day) to fill the tank
