Pipe fill the pool in 32 hours

=> 1 hour = 1/32 of the pool filled

Another pipe empty the pool in 12 hours

=> 1 hour = 1/12 of the pool emptied

When both pipes are active,

⇒ 1 hour = 1/12 - 1/32 = 5/96 of the pool emptied

Find the number of hours to empty the 3/8 filled pool:

5/96 of the pool = 1 hour

1/96 of the pool = 1 ÷ 5 = 1/5 hour

96/96 of the pool = 1/5 x 96 = 96/5 hour

3/8 of the pool = 3/8 x 96/5 = 7.2 hours

Answer: It takes 7.2 hours to empty the pool

Answer:

it takes 7.2 hours to empty the pool

Step-by-step explanation:

Pipe fill the pool in 32 hours

=> 1 hour = 1/32 of the pool filled

Another pipe empty the pool in 12 hours

=> 1 hour = 1/12 of the pool emptied
