A swimming pool which is 20m in length 15m in breadth and 4m in depth. Find the cost of cemmenting the floor and walls at the rate of rs 12per m square.

Given that :

To find :

Solution :

Given,

  • Length of swimming pool = 20m
  • Breadth of swimming pool = 15m
  • Height of swimming pool = 4m

To find the cost of cemmenting the floor and walls we have to find the surface area of cuboid

Given , the surface area of cuboid to be cemmented so,

➞ Surface area of the cuboid = Area of 4 walls + Area of floor

➞ Surface area of the cuboid = Lateral surface area of cuboid + area of floor

We know that

  • Surface area of the cuboid = 2h(l + b) + lb

Where,

  • l is length
  • b is breadth
  • h is height

Substituting the value :

➞ Surface area of cuboid = 2h(l + b) + lb

➞ Surface area of cuboid = 2 × 4 (20 + 15) + (20)(15)

➞ Surface area of cuboid = 8(35) + 300

➞ Surface area of cuboid = 280 + 300

➞ Surface area of cuboid = 580m²

Hence, Surface area of cuboid is 580m²

And also Given that,cost of cemmenting the floor and walls at rate of 12per m square so,

➞ 12 × 580

➞ Rs.6960

Hence,Rs.6960 is the cost of cemmenting the floor and walls at the rate of Rs.12 per m square
