Question:

A swimming tank is 10 cm long and 6 cm wide. It contains water up to depth 3 cm. Find the volume of the tank

a)meter cube

b)liters

Solution:

Length of swimming tank, L = 10 cm

Breadth of swimming tank, B = 6 cm

Depth(Height) of swimming tank, H = 3 cm

Volume of swimming tank(cuboid shaped), V = L * B * H = 10 * 6 * 3 = 180 cm³

a) meter cube(m³)

1 m³ = 1000000 cm³

1 cm³ = 0.000001 m³

180 cm³ = 180/1000000 = 0.000180 m³

b) liters

1 cm³ = 0.001 liter

180 cm³ = 180/1000 = 0.18 liters

The volume of the tank is 180 cm³ or 0.000180 m³ or 0.18 liters.
