A system of pulleys is used to raise a load of bricks that weighs 1,700 newtons. The force applied to the pulley is 340 newtons. What’s the mechanical advantage of this machine?

MA = W/T = n.

Let's calculate the ratio: 1700/340 = 5

Which means the T = 1/5 W, it can be achieved by compound pulley system with 4 or 5 pulleys.

Weight of bricks = 1,700N

Force applied on pulley=340N

The force that is required to left

the bricks against force due to gravity
