Answer:

X is the immune system of our body that helps us fight infections and the cells of x are the leukocytes.

Explanation:

The immune system of our body helps us fight infections even on getting exposed to the disease-causing factors. It is our immune system that provides protection against various infections & diseases and keeps us healthy. Thus it is essential for survival.

There exists a vast network of cells and tissues throughout our body that distinguish foreign particles from our tissues.

  • White blood cells or WBCs or leukocytes are the main immune cells that show immune responses when coming in contact with a foreign body.
  • These leukocytes are of two types - phagocytes(Neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, mast cells)

and

  • Lymphocytes- (B- Lymphocytes and T-lymphocytes or T cells)

Other components are as follows:

  1. Antigen ( able to cause an immune response),
  2. Antibodies (Ab) or immunoglobulins
  3. Memory B cell
  4. Plasma B cell
  5. Natural killer cell (NK cell)
  6. Regulatory T cell
  7. Helper T cell
  8. Memory T cell
  9. Cytotoxic T cell
  10. MHC (Major histocompatibility complex) etc.

System X - Immune System that helps us fight infections.

Cells of X = white blood cells(WBCs)

  • Immune system works on the basis of innate and acquired immunity.
  • Any foreign pathogen entering the body has to face the innate barriers common, applied to all foreign pathogens such as physical barrier - skin, physiological barrier - mucus, hairs, tears, saliva, etc.
  • As the pathogen breaches the components of innate immunity, the role of Acquired Immunity comes, where the antigen is recognized and targeted by an antibody, killed by macrophages or immune cells, Memory is generated for fast response when facing the same pathogen a second time.
  • The immune system can be mediated by two components: The humoral mediated immune system and the cell-mediated immune system.
  • Humoral mediated immune system refers to the humoral or blood serum components such as antibodies that tag or mark the pathogen for further killing or certain signaling molecules example cytokines etc.
  • Cell-mediated immune system consists of cells that kill or destroy the pathogen.
  • Major cells of the immune system are:-
  1. Leukocytes and or WBCs are the main cells of the immune system.
  • Phagocytes include macrophages, monocytes, neutrophils, etc.
  • Lymphocytes include T cells, B cells, NK cells.
  • T cells are further divided into helper T cells (TH cells) and cytokine T cells(TC  cells).
  • B cells are further divided into plasma cells and memory cells.
