Yes. ATP - Adenosine Triphosphate is the energy currency of the cell. Glucose is broke in the form of Pyruvate (6 carbon molecule to 3 carbon molecule) then is broken down (burnt) to provide 36 ATP of energy for humans and animals( aerobic respiration in the presence of oxygen) and 2 ATP of energy in case of micro-organisms lie yeast.
