a. Take an empty plastic bottle.

b. Drill four holes at the same height from the bottom of the bottle.

c. Drill 3 holes at different heights from the previous one.

d. Cover the holes with tape.

e. Fill the water in bottle.

f. Remove the tape from the holes which are at different height.

1. Do the stream of the water coming out from the holes at different height fall at the same

distance from the bottle?

2. Do the stream of the water coming out from the holes at the same height fall at the same

distance from the bottle?

3. What can you conclude from the above observation?

Answer:

  1. it's depend on the height of the holes which is done in the bottle
  2. the water comes out from the the bottle not in a same height because the holes are done in the different height
  3. we conclude observation that the heights of the the the bottle holes are different

1. No, the stream of the water coming out from the holes at different height does not fall at the same distance.

  • We know that pressure is equal to the product of density, acceleration due to gravity and height.
  • Since the said quantity is dependent on height, as per the question different heights are mentioned.
  • Thus there will be different pressures and subsequently different distances travelled by the streams of water.

2. Yes, the stream of the water coming out from the holes at the same height falls at the same distance.

  • As pressure is equal to the product of density, acceleration due to gravity and height.
  • Since the said quantity is dependent on the question, as per this question same height is mentioned.
  • Thus, there will be the same pressure and thus subsequently same distances travelled by these streams.
