Answer:

A and B together can complete the work in 40/9 days

Explanation:

Given that  A can complete a piece of work in 8 days

                  B can complete same work in  10 days

let the piece of work is x

     ⇒   A can complete x work in 8 days

then the work done by A in 1  day =   \frac{x}{8}

     ⇒    B can complete x work in 10 days

then the work done by B in 1 day =  \frac{x}{10}

the work done by both A and B =   \frac{x}{8} + \frac{x}{10}

                                                     =  \frac{10x +8x}{8(10)}  = \frac{18x}{80} = \frac{9x}{40}

  \frac{9x}{40} work can be done by A and B in 1 day

    the number of days to complete x   =   \frac{x}{\frac{9x}{40} }   days

                                                                =  40/ 9 days

 ⇒ A and B can complete the work in 40/9 days
