∴ Total distance travelled = 900 + 300 + 400 + 15

Lets calculate the time taken for each journey.

1.  Time taken by train travel Ttr = Distance ÷ Speed

∴ Ttr = 900 ÷ 65  = 13.85 Hrs  .....(2)

2.  Time taken by boat travel Tb = Distance ÷ Speed

∴ Tb = 300 ÷ 25  = 12 Hrs  .....(3)

3.  Time taken by plane travel Tp = Distance ÷ Speed

∴ Tp = 400 ÷ 350  = 1.14 Hrs  .....(4)

4.  Time taken by boat travel Ttx = Distance ÷ Speed

∴ Ttx = 15 ÷ 25  = 0.6 Hrs  .....(5)

From equation 2,3,4 & 5, total time taken for the journey

T = Ttr + Tb + Tp + Ttx

∴ T = 13.85 + 12 + 1.14 + 0.6

∴ T = 27.59 Hrs  .... (6)

Average speed of entire journey S = Total Distance Travelled ÷ Total Time required

S = D ÷ T

∴ S = 1615 ÷ 27.59

∴ S = 58.54 miles/hr

Average Speed for entire Journey = 58.54 miles / hr
