Given : at the end of 20 days, 20%  of the work was still remaining.

A and B finished the remaining work  in 3 days.

To Find : how long would B  have taken to finish the entire work  on his own

43 days

37.5 days

40 days

35.5 days

Solution:

Let say Total Work is W

Work done by A in a day =    A

Work Done of A in 20 Days = 20 A

at the end of 20 days, 20%  of the work was still remaining

Work remaining = (20/100)W = 0.2W

Work Done by A  = W - 0.2W = 0.W

20A  = 0.8W

=> A = 0.04W

Work Done in 3 Days by A = 0.04 x 3 = 0.12W

Work Done by B in 3 Days = 0.2W - 0.12W = 0.08W

0.08W   , work done by B  = 3 Days

work done by B  = 3/0.08

= 37.5

B will take 37.5  days alone to finish the work
