A tank containing 200 kg of water was used as a constant-temperature bath. How long would it take to heat the 20 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius with a 250 Watt immersion heater? Neglect the heat capacity of the tank frame and any heat losses to the air?

Explanation:

Cp = 4200 J/kg k

∆T = temperature rise

t =time

power of heater = m*Cp of water*∆T/t

250 = 200*4200*(25-20)/t

t = 16800 sec = 280 mins = 4.67 hrs
