A tank of height 0.86 km that contains oil is on a Planet X. The gauge pressure at the
bottom of the tank is 1.44x100 Pa. Determine the height of the tank if the same pressure
is to be experienced at the bottom of the tank on earth. The density of oil is 800 kg/m”.
(a) 200 m
(b) 184 m

Answer:

given = height = 0.86 Km

            guage pressure of bottom = 1.44x100Pa

           density = 800Kg /m

to find = height of tank (bottom of tank)

solution =

   apply the formula = P= ρgh

                        where =  ρ= density

                                        P = pressure

                                        h = height

P1 / P2 = h1 / h2

h2 =  h1 / p1 x p2

h2 = 0.86 / 1.44 x 10⁶ x 1.44 x 10⁶

h2 = 0.86m

so the option C is correct answer.
