a tap can fill up the empty tank in 5 hours whereas it can be emptied by a pipe in 6 hours. how long will take to fill the empty tank if both the tap and pipe are opened together

Answer:

In 1 HOUR Pipe A fills = 1/5 th part

In I hour pipe B empties = 1/6 th part

In 1 hour part of tank that can get filled if both taps are opened =( 1/5 -1/6 )th part = 1/30th part

So if 1/30 th part gets filled in =1 hour

1 whole part gets filled in = 1 ÷ ( 1/30 ) = 30 hours
