A tap requires 18 hours to fill a tank. On a particular day, it was noticed that 18 hours after the tap was turned open, the tank was not filled due to leak at the bottom of the tank. The leak was plugged and it took the tap 3 more hours to fill the tank. Working alone, how long will the leak take to empty the tank?

marks me as brainliest pls pls pls

Step-by-step explanation:

ipe takes 18 hrs to fill the tank and it takes 26 hrs when the leak operates.

Let's assume that the total capacity of tank is 234 liters. (LCM of 18 and 26 is 234)

The efficiency of pipe is 234/18 = 13 lts per hr.

Efficiency of pipe and the leak together is 234/26 = 9 lts per hr.

Hence the leak can empty the tank at a rate of 4 lts per hr.

Hence, the time taken by the leak to empty the full tank is 234/4 = 58.8 hrs.

Step-by-step explanation:

3 hours of filling = 18 hours of leaking

18 hours of filling = 108 hours of leaking

So it will take 108 hours to empty the tank
