A target of mass 400g moving with a horizontal speed of 10 m/s is hit by the bullet of mass 0.01 kg moving in the opposite direction if both the bullet and the target come to rest after collision calculate the velocity of the bullet at the same time of striking the target.

HELLOW FRIEND, CHAI PEELO.

GIVEN,

MASS OF TARGET= 400 g

= 0.4 kg

VELOCITY OF TARGET = 10 m/s

MASS OF BULLET = 0.01 kg

SINCE, THE BODIES COMES TO REST AFTER COLLISION, THEREFORE FINAL MOMENTUM OF BOTH THE BODIES SHOULD BE '0'/ZERO.

p = mv ( momentum )

p1 = p2

LET THE VELOCITY OF BULLET BE x.

0.4 × 10 = 0.01 × x

4 = 0.01 × x

x = 4/0.01

x = 400 m/s

THEREFORE, THE VELOCITY OF THE BULLET IS 400 m/s.
