mass of block with bullet = 0.5 + 0.050 = .55 kg
momentum of block with bullet = 0.55 x 4
= 2.2 kg m/s
then
0.050 V(bullet) = 2.2
V(bullet) = 44 m/s
The momentum was zero before shoting
so,
0 = mass pistol x 0 + mass bullet x 0
=0
0 = 2 V(gun) + momentum of bullet
= = 2 V(gun) + 2.2
Vgun = - 1.1 m/s
momentum of block with bullet = 0.55 x 4
= 2.2 kg m/s
then
