Answer:

Let ₹x be the fixed charge and ₹y be the charge per km.

For a distance of 10km, the charge paid is ₹105

.i.e., x + 10y = 105 ___(i)

For a distance of 15km, the charge paid is ₹155

.i.e., x + 15y = 155 ___(ii)

x + 10y = 105

x = 105 - 10y __(iii)

Substitute (iii) in (ii)

x + 15y = 155

105 - 10y + 15y = 155

105 + 5y = 155

5y = 155 - 105

5y = 50

y = 50/5

y = 10

x + 10y = 105

x + 10 × 10 = 105

x + 100 = 105

x = 105 - 100

x = 5

So,

Fixed charge, ₹x = ₹5

Charge per km, ₹y = ₹10
