LET THE TOTAL DISTANCE IN KILOMETRE BE X
RATE OF FIRST KILOMETRE IS RS 8
THEREFORE REMAINING DISTANCE IS X-1 KM
FARE OF REMAINING DISTANCE IS RS 5(X-1)
TOTAL FARE IS RS Y

TOTAL FARE , Y = [8+(X-1)5]
Y = 5X + 3

⇒ Let the total fare be = y Rs

⇒ Distance covered be = x km

⇒ For first subsequent distance (x - 1) km fare = 5(x - 1)

⇒ y = 8 + 5 (x - 1)

⇒ y = 8 + 5x - 5

⇒ y = 5x + 3

⇒ The coordinates of the following linear equation

1) x = 0, y = 3 (0,3)

2) x = 1, y = 8 (1,8)

3) x = 2, y = 13 (2,13)

4) x = 3, y = 18 (3,18)
