A taxi leaves the station x for station y every 10 minutes. Simultaneously, a taxi leaves the station y for station x every 10 minutes. The taxis move at the same constant speed and go from x to y or vise-versa in 2 hours. How many taxis coming from the other side will each taxi meet enroute from y to x. 10, (2) 11, (3) 12, (4) 23

If a taxi leaves from station x every 10 minutes. The total number of taxis leaving from station x in 2 hours (120 minutes) would be 120/10 = 12 taxis. Similarly, the total number of taxis leaving from station y would be 12 taxis. However, when the first taxi gets from station x to y, it would have crossed the first 11 taxis that left from station y toward x. The 12th taxi is still at station y only just leaving, and so the taxi doesn’t meet it ‘enroute’ but rather at station y.

Thus the answer is (2) 11 taxis.
