A Teacher wrote either of words "PARALLELOGRAM" and "PARALLELEPIPED" on board but due to malfunction of maker words is not properly written and only two consecutive letters "RA" are visible then the chance that the written word is "PARALLELOGRAM" is p/q then (p+q) equals. (where p & q are co prime natural numbers):

QGP: The letters RA appear three times in all.
QGP: Twice in Parallelogram, once in Parallelepiped.
QGP: So, Probability is 2/3
QGP: Answer = 2+3 =5
smily121: but in question u didn't asked probability
QGP: The question says "chance that.... "
smily121: ok i understanded when I seen u r answer

Hey There,

Here, we are given the letters RA, and also two words.

The words are:
PA RA LLELOG RA M
and

PA RA LLELEPIPED

Thus, we can see that the letters RA appear 3 times in all. Of them, they appear twice in Parallelogram.

So, the chances that the written word is Parallelogram is \frac{2}{3}

Thus, we have:
\frac{p}{q} = \frac{2}{3}

Since 2 and 3 are co-prime numbers, we have:

p = 2, q = 3

So, p + q = 5

So, the answer is 5.

Hope it helps

RA twice in parallelogram and once in parallelepiped
p/q is 2/3
p+q is 2+3 is 5
so answer is 5
