Given:

A team of three lumberjacks cut an average of 15,000 cubic feet of timber in a week.

To Find:

How many cubic feet will four lumberjacks cut in four weeks?

Solution:

This problem can be solved by unitary method:

∵ 3 lumberjacks cut in 1 week = 15,000 feet³

∴ 1  lumberjacks cut in 1 week = 15,000  ÷ 3 = 5,000 feet³

∴ 1  lumberjacks cut in 4 week = 5,000 × 4 = 20,000 feet³

∴ 4 lumberjacks cut in 4 week = 20,000  × 4 = 80,000 feet³

So  80,000 feet³ will four lumberjacks cut in four weeks.
