In general, for n EQUAL resistors connected in PARALLEL where each one has a resistance of R ohms; the total resistance IS ALWAYS given by R/n ohms.

For example, 20 50 ohm resistors connected in parallel will an effective resistance of 50/20 = 2.5 ohms.

Consequently, two 1 ohm resistors in parallel have a total or effective resistance Rt = 1/2 = 0.5 ohms.

OR for TWO resistors in parallel:

Rt = R1*R2/(R1+R2) = 1*1 / (1 + 1) = 1/2 = 0.5 ohms
