Answer:

m = 0.06kg

Explanation:

Kinetic Energy (KE) = ½mv²

KE = 75 J

v = 50 m/s

m = ?

➞ 75 = ½ × m × (50)²

➞ 75 = ½ × m × 50 × 50

➞ m = 75 × 2/50 × 50

➞ m = 150/2500

m = 0.06kg

The mass of the tennis ball is 60 grams.

GIVEN

A tennis ball is traveling at 50 m/s and has a kinetic energy of 75 J.

TO FIND

Mass of the tennis ball.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

To calculate the mass of the tennis ball we will apply the following formula;

K.E =  \frac{1}{2} m {v}^{2}

Where,

K.E = kinetic energy

m = mass of the object

v = velocity of the object.

Putting the values in the above formula we get;

75 =  \frac{1}{2}  \times m \times  {50}^{2}

m =  \frac{75 \times 2}{50 \times 50}

m = 0.06 kg

We know that,

1 kg = 1000 grams

0.6kg = 0.6×1000 = 60 grams

Hence, The mass of the tennis ball is 60 grams.
