Given:

A tent is in the form of a right circular cylinder and cone. The radius of the cone and cylinder is 4 meters. The height of the cylinder and cone is 4.5 meters and 3 meters respectively.

To find:

Find the outer surface area of the tent.

Solution:

From given, we have,

A tent is in the form of a right circular cylinder and cone.

The radius of the cone and cylinder is 4 meters.

The height of the cylinder and cone is 4.5 meters and 3 meters respectively.

Surface area of the tent = Surface area of the cylinder + Surface area of the cone

= 2πr² + 2πrh + πrl + πr²

= 2πr(r + h) + πr(l + r)

= 2π × 4 (4 + 4.5) + π × 4 (3 + 4)

= 8π (8.5) + 4π (7)

= 68π + 28π

= 96π

Therefore, the outer surface area of the tent is 96π
